Cherry Julep
Cherry Julep

If you need a cocktail that’s as refreshing as it gets, look no further than a cherry julep. This interpretation takes the already-delicious mint julep and adds the tart flavor of cherries.

You’ll need

2 ounces cherry brandy
2 ounces gin
1 ounce simple syrup
Sparkling or soda water
Mint leaves
1 brandy-infused cherry

To make
  1. A day before making the drink, remove the pits from a handful of cherries and place in a bowl. Add enough brandy to almost cover the cherries. Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate.
  2. Shake the gin, brandy, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Muddle a few mint leaves in a rocks glass.
  4. Fill it halfway with ice, strain the drink, and top with soda water.
  5. Garnish with a brandy-infused cherry and a mint sprig.

Welcome to Travel Nibble. It’s a website for the practical traveler, written and edited by an equally practical traveler.

The ethos of Travel Nibble is simple: I’ll show you how to make the most of your trip, whether it’s your first time or your tenth time in a city. I would not always show you the cheapest nor priciest ways of doing things, because that’s not how most of you travel. You set aside a budget for your trips, and this usually allows for a few splurges.

The images on the website are from my own photo reel unless procured elsewhere, in which due credit is given whenever possible. Please likewise credit any image you decide to use that’s from travelnibble.com.

All tips, places of interest, suggested restaurants, and products are all accurate at press time. However, due to the nature of the industry, things change. Check with your travel planner or the destination’s official website before making plans to visit any of the locations recommended at travelnibble.com.
